About the Medical Simulation Center

The UC Irvine Health Medical Education Simulation Center, located within the Medical Education Building at the School of Medicine on the Irvine campus, is a $40 million, 65,000-square-foot state-of-the-art medical simulation center that provides telemedicine and simulation-based educational programs and CME courses for thousands of healthcare providers each year.

The medical simulation center includes:

  • A full-scale operating room
  • Emergency room trauma bay
  • Obstetrics suite
  • Critical care unit

Medical simulation and physician training

The affiliated Surgical Education Center located on the Orange campus at UC Irvine Medical Center, is the first facility in California to be designated as an American College of Surgeons Level I Comprehensive Accredited Education Institute.

The Surgical Education Center is dedicated to the training of physicians in:

  • Endoscopy
  • Minimally invasive surgery
  • Robotic-assisted laparoscopic surgery

The ACS Level I Center provides state-of-the-art surgical education to medical students, residents, fellows, faculty and community surgeons.
